Isn’t this insurance just for older people?
No. We believe the purchase of Forethought life insurance coverage is a smart decision for everyone. Younger people often carry life and health insurance to protect their families in the event something happens, and that’s wise. It’s equally wise for them to take the next steps to ensure funds are available for their own final expenses, including their funerals. By doing so, they relieve their loved ones of emotional and financial burdens when the need arises and enjoy the peace of mind that comes with having all of their affairs in order.
But what will my children think if I buy Forethought coverage?
Naturally, attitudes vary from one family to another, but most people who have selected Forethought coverage feel that the purchase is a responsible and loving thing to do. In fact, many people tell us that one of the primary reasons they select the coverage is for a "peace of mind". By doing so, they relieve their loved ones of emotional and financial burdens when the need arises.
Wouldn’t I be better off to invest the money myself?
Invested money earns dividends or interest upon which income tax must be paid. Unlike some other programs, this is life insurance coverage especially designed to keep pace with the rising cost of final expenses, without income tax liability.
What if I change my mind?
The life insurance coverage from Forethought Life Insurance Company offers a 30 day free trial period, starting from the day you receive your policy or certificate of coverage. This allows you time to be sure you’re comfortable with your decision. Our goal is to satisfy the needs and desires of our families. We’re not satisfied until you are.
Should I discuss this with my family before purchasing the coverage?
Many people find that a family decision helps to ensure that everyone involved is comfortable with the decisions being made. Certainly, family members can form a closer bond through discussions of this type. And often, people are better able to determine what their real feelings are, after they’ve shared this information with loved ones.
Are there other plans available besides the Forethought plan?
Yes, there are other similar products, but there is none quite like the Forethought plan. Forethought funeral planning was developed after years of research and planning to provide the best possible security and benefits to families who enroll.
What if I move to another town or state?
In a mobile society such as ours, it’s common for people to relocate. The Forethought program takes this into consideration by making your benefits transferable anywhere in the United States, through the vast network of Forethought licensed funeral professionals. Assistance in making transfers is available from the Forethought office in Batesville, IN.
What if I am unable to keep up my payments?
Sometimes, unforeseen circumstances create financial problems for even the most conscientious and responsible people. And, the last thing we want to do is put you in a financial bind. That’s why Forethought Life offers a variety of payment plans. You may choose the one that fits your budget. The policy provides for a 31 day grace of payment period. Also, if you’re forced to let your policy lapse, it turns into reduced paid up whole life insurance. You then have up to three years to reinstate. That’s real flexibility.
What if I want to add money to a policy I have already purchased?
You can add money to an existing policy with a payment of $100 or more. The money can be submitted with a coverage change form, which can be obtained by calling Forethought Life Insurance Company.
Won’t my veteran’s benefits take care of these costs?
Most likely, no. As with many government programs, veterans benefits can fluctuate based on the availability of government funds. And even if the benefits remained the same, they wouldn’t keep pace with rising costs. Most veterans who select Forethought life insurance coverage stipulate that the government funeral allowance be sent directly to their survivors to do as they wish. The important thing to remember is that the survivors must apply to the Veteran’s Administration for the funeral allowance. It will not be sent automatically.
