Personalized Music
Music and song have long played a significant role in life. There is often that one song in all of our lives that has the ability to transport us to that distant place in time and allow us to recall those wonderful memories that are dear to us. What better way to personalize your loved one's tribute than by playing their favorite music as you greet family and friends. At Schmaedeke Funeral Home, we offer this option to all of the families we serve.
"A Journey Through The Years"
Schmaedeke Funeral Home is pleased to utilize the latest technology to create a DVD of your photographs. This is truly a unique way to view your photos and share them with family and friends. The DVD will play continuously throughout the visitation, and allow your loved one's favorite song to be played on the DVD as the pictures scroll by. We provide the initial DVD to our families at no charge. Additional DVD's are available for a nominal fee.
Photo Collage Boards
Another way to truly "celebrate" the life of your loved one is to share images of the years gone by. Schmaedeke Funeral Home gladly offers photo boards to all of our families at no charge. The best way for this to happen is by creating collages of your family photos, which are displayed at the visitation and service. These images are a testimony of a life well lived. As important as it is to come together to say good-bye, it is as important to remember who someone was in life and "celebrate" how much they truly meant to us.
The Remembrance Photo
As a gesture of our appreciation for allowing our family to serve you in your time of need, we offer all of our families the "Remembrance Photo." By providing a favorite photo to one of our staff members, we will create a keepsake photo super-imposed over a background of your choice. The original photo is returned to you and is not damaged during this process. This photo creates a family keepsake to cherish for generations to come.
Insurance/Benefits Claims Assistance
The last thing that anyone wants to worry about is completing insurance or benefits forms and filing the appropriate claims. We offer families the option of assigning insurance proceeds to the funeral home to cover the funeral expenses. Even if a family decides not to assign their insurance, we still are available at no additional charge, to assist them with any insurance and benefit issues that may arise.
Travel Assistance
The passing of a loved one can bring family members together who may not necessarily have had the opportunity to do so throughout the years. With this in mind, we understand the need for lodging and travel assistance. We gladly offer recommendations to local hotels, with some of the hotels offering bereavement rates to our families. This service is provided at no additional charge to our families.
Refreshments for the Immediate Family
We believe that families should not have to worry about food provisions during the funeral process. That is why, along with traditional "cookies, coffee and tea," Schmaedeke Funeral Home is pleased to provide a tray of mini-sandwiches for the immediate family in the lounge during the visitation.
Understandably, family and friends will likely express their sympathy by bringing something in for the immediate family. We welcome this gesture. If requested by the family, additional trays are available for a nominal fee.
Aftercare Services
People may tend to think that our services cease with the conclusion of the funeral. That statement couldn't be farther from the truth. We believe that the days and weeks to come are as important to you and your family as the funeral services we provide. We proudly offer several ways to assist you beyond the funeral. Every family receives a follow-up call from our funeral home staff to ensure that the services rendered not only met, but exceeded their expectations.
We extend our resources to assist you with any administrative tasks you may encounter after the funeral. The funeral home also provides additional resources such as brochures and other media that can be useful tools during the grieving process. We believe it is important to keep in touch and help in any way we can.
Marker Assistance
Every family needs a way to properly identify their loved one's grave. Whether your loved one is an honorably discharged veteran, or simply a cherished member of the family, we are here to help. Filing the necessary papers and providing the required documentation for a veteran marker is our honor. We offer an extensive selection of markers for families who are looking for headstones or monuments to identify their loved one's grave.
Holiday Remembrance Ceremony
Every December, we invite families back to join us in our Holiday Remembrance Ceremony. This is an opportunity for people to meet other families and share the memories of their loved one. We gather in prayer and song as we commemorate the life that once was. This is an especially memorable and to say the least, an emotional event for everyone involved. We as a family enjoy being able to do this for you. This is one of the moments that reminds us how truly fortunate we are to be able to share in the lives of others.
