The Summer of 2014 marked a changing of the guard here at Schmaedeke Funeral Home, and we are very excited to introduce the next generation of our extended family to own and operate the funeral home: The Mintle Family.
The Mintle Family members certainly are not strangers to the funeral home. Tom and Kara Mintle have worked side by side with former owners Dick and Janeen Schmaedeke for many years. Kara is the daughter of Janeen Schmaedeke and has grown up around the funeral home for more than 30 years. Tom has been in funeral service for more than 20 years. Together, along with their children, the Mintle Family brings a renewed sense of passion and commitment to the day-to-day operations of the funeral home.
In our ongoing efforts to serve those who call upon us in the most efficient and complete manner possible, we have streamlined operations to continue solely out of the location at 107th and Harlem Avenue. Although we are no longer operating from the original Orland Park location, we will continue to serve our Orland friends and neighbors in the comfort and familiarity of the community and at their respective places of worship.
This journey began as a vision in the mind of Orville Schmaedeke back in 1932; and along with his wife, Martha, they recognized the importance of being present in the lives of others. The Mintle Family also recognizes this importance ... and vows to continue providing unparalleled service to everyone who calls on them in their time of need.
Tom and Kara Mintle, the third generation of extended family to act as stewards of this beautiful legacy, are grateful for this personal privilege to serve.
"We wish to assure families both present, past and future, that we are here for them. We pledge our unending commitment to family, community and honoring the lives of those who have gone before us."
From the moment your journey begins, we are here for you ...
